According to Punch newspaper,the Lagos state police operatives have taken a 23-year-old, Gbolahan Adebayo, into custody for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, resulting in her fatal death, in the Ijedodo area of Alimosho, Lagos. It was gathered from sources familiar with the matter that the unfortunate incident occurred on Friday during a visit by the deceased to the suspect's house. A local resident, who preferred to be identified only as Akin, shared with our correspondent on Monday that he distinctly heard the 23-year-old victim's desperate cries for help ringing out around midnight as she was allegedly being brutally assaulted by her boyfriend. Akin further revealed that it was not until daybreak that Adebayo sounded the alarm, apparently feigning concern, after he discovered that his girlfriend had become unresponsive following the violent assault.
